归园田居

陶渊明

少无适俗韵，
性本爱丘山。
误落尘网中，
一去三十年。

羁鸟恋旧林，
池鱼思故渊。
开荒南野际，
守拙归园田。

方宅十余亩，
草屋八九间。
榆柳荫后檐，
桃李罗堂前。
暧暧远人村，
依依墟里烟。

狗吠深巷中，
鸡鸣桑树颠。

户庭无尘杂，
虚室有余闲。

久在樊笼里，
复得返自然。

[注释]陶渊明 (365―427) 东晋文学家、诗人。今江西九江市人,曾任彭泽令等官职。因不满当时官员的腐败而去职,归隐田园,至死不仕。其诗以《桃花源诗》等为代表,今存《陶渊明集》。

My Idyllic Countryside

No lyric poem to my local,
Though as a lad, I love the hill
Sunk into the trap of officialdom
For 30 years since I left home.

The cage-birds miss their own wood;
The jar-fish love their original pond.
I like to cultivate the south-wasteland
Or keep on toiling in my native field.

My resident campus is over 10 Mu
Where leisurely stand 8 or 9 straw-rooms.
The back eaves under the shadow of willow and elm,
Before the hall grow up the peach and the plum.
The remote villages seem to be warm,
With reluctant cooking smoke on move.

The dogs are barking in the inner lane
In the mulberry cocks are crying time and again.

No cluttering dust shroud my courtyard
My apartment too spacious to be occupied

Separating from the cage-like courtroom,
I have returned home, seeing the nature true.

Note:Tao Yuanming(365―427),poet,litterateur in the East-Jin Funasty (317-420),born in Jiujiang City,Jiangxi Province,China.Once he was appointed as a magistrate in Pengze County.However, he did not hold such a post much longer and left for home to be a common farmer instead for he was disgusted at the offical corruption. He wrote much more works, the most famous of which was My Notes to the Peach-Blossom-Source compiled in Tao's Anthology.
