浪淘沙令

李煜
(937―978)

帘外雨潺潺，
春意阑珊。
罗衾不耐五更寒。
梦里不知身是客，
一晌贪欢。
独自莫凭栏，
无限江山，
别时容易见时难。
流水落花春去也，
天上人间。

[注释]李煜(937―978) 字重光,南唐后主。公元975年,宋灭南唐,他被封为“违命侯”,过了三年阶下囚的生活,终被杀死。

The rain sprinkled outside my curtain;
Spring sense was waning again.
Silk quilt could not stop coldness at night;
In dream, I had no idea I turned a passenger,
coveting a pleasure.

Don’t be lonely upon balustrade,
overlooking the vast land;
Easy lost but hard got.
Rivers flowing with fallen flowers, spring vanished.
Once my paradise is no longer a monarch's world.

Note: Li Yu (937―978), another name Congguang as a monarch descendant of the South-Tang Dynasty thrown down by the Song Dynasty in 975, he was entitled Weiminghou as a Chinese Marquis who had lived in prison for three years and kelled at last.
